Complete rules and guidelines for CodeVerse 2025

Important Note

All participants must read and understand these rules before competing. The organizing committee's decisions are final in all matters related to the symposium.

General Rules & Code of Conduct

1 Eligibility

  • The CodeVerse Symposium is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students from recognized colleges/universities.
  • Participants must register as teams of two (2) members.
  • All team members must be from the same college/institution.

2 Registration

  • Teams must complete the registration process by the specified deadline.
  • No changes to team composition will be permitted after the registration deadline.
  • Each team must provide valid college ID proofs during registration.
  • Limited teams are allowed once the registration limit is reached the registraion link will be closed.
  • No On-spot Registration
  • Last Date For Registration is 25th August 2025

3 Fair Play & Integrity

  • Participants are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity and sportsmanship.
  • Any form of cheating, plagiarism, or unauthorized assistance will result in immediate disqualification of the entire team.
  • Disruptive or disrespectful behavior towards fellow participants, judges, volunteers, or organizers will not be tolerated.

4 Organizer's Authority

  • The decisions of the organizing committee and judges are final and binding in all matters related to the symposium.
  • The organizers reserve the right to amend, modify, or cancel any part of the event schedule, rules, or prizes, with prior notice to participants.

5 Language

  • All communications, problem statements, code, and presentations must be in English.

6 Resource Usage (General)

  • Participants are permitted to use standard online documentation (e.g., official language documentation, API references) if specified for a particular round.
  • Access to external communication channels (social media, messaging apps, personal email) is strictly prohibited during all active competition rounds.
  • The use of pre-written code snippets or complete solutions not authored by the team during the competition is prohibited.

Round-Specific Rules

1 Round 1: Speed Code Sprint

  • Time: 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM (60 mins coding) + 11:00 AM - 11:15 AM (15 mins evaluation)
  • Format: Teams will solve three technical coding problems (Easy, Medium, Hard).
  • Permitted Languages: Python, Java, C++, C (others may be available in lab environment).
  • Submission: Solutions must be submitted as executable code files via specified method.
  • Evaluation: Solutions evaluated based on correctness (matching expected output).

1.1 Restrictions

  • No internet access for problem-solving (only for standard documentation if allowed).
  • No external devices or communication.
  • No collaboration between teams.

2 Round 2: Algorithm Design Challenge

  • Time: 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM (90 minutes)
  • Format: Design an algorithm for a complex problem, implement it, and explain it to judges.
  • Algorithm Design: Must be documented using pseudocode, precise syntax, or flowchart.
  • Implementation: Must be in a permitted programming language.
  • Explanation: Each team gets 5-7 minutes to explain design to judges.

3 Round 3: Technical Connection

  • Time: 2:00 PM - 2:30 PM (30 minutes)
  • Format: Image-based quiz displayed on central screen with written answers.

3.1 Restrictions

  • No electronic devices (mobile phones, smartwatches, laptops) allowed.
  • No discussion or communication between team members or other teams.
  • No shouting out answers.
  • Answers must be legible on provided answer sheet.

4 Round 4: System Design Showdown

  • Time: 2:30 PM - 4:15 PM (1 hour 45 minutes for design + presentation prep)
  • Format: Design workflow/architecture diagram for given application problem.
  • Design Tools: Pen/paper, whiteboards, or digital drawing tools.
  • Presentation: Strict 5-minute limit per team with 2-minute warning.

Disqualification Policy

A team may be immediately disqualified from the entire symposium if found guilty of:

  • Plagiarism or copying solutions from other teams or unauthorized sources
  • Using unfair means or engaging in any form of cheating
  • Being disruptive, abusive, or violent towards any individual associated with the event
  • Violating any specific rule of a round or the general code of conduct
  • Failing to adhere to instructions from organizers or judges

1 Disqualification Process

  • Any suspected violation will be reviewed by the organizing committee.
  • The team in question will be given an opportunity to explain their actions.
  • If found guilty, the team will be immediately disqualified and asked to leave the event premises.
  • No refunds or appeals will be entertained for disqualified teams.

Judging & Scoring

1 Scoring Methodology

  • Scores from all four rounds will be accumulated to determine final ranking.
  • Detailed scoring criteria for each round are outlined in the event documentation.
  • The judges' decisions are final and cannot be challenged.

2 Tie-Breaking

  • Higher score in Round 4 (System Design Showdown)
  • Higher score in Round 2 (Algorithm Design Challenge)
  • Earlier submission time in Round 1 (Speed Code Sprint)

Prizes & Certificates

1 Prizes

  • The top three teams with the highest cumulative scores will be awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes respectively.
  • Prizes include mementos and certificates.
  • Prize distribution will occur during the valedictory ceremony.

2 Certificates

  • All registered participants who complete the symposium will receive a Certificate of Participation.
  • Winning teams will receive special achievement certificates.
  • Certificates will be distributed digitally within 7 working days after the event.

  • The organizers reserve the right to make necessary adjustments to the rules or schedule for the smooth functioning of the event.
  • Any changes will be communicated to participants promptly.

2 Liability

  • Participants are solely responsible for their belongings.
  • The organizers will not be held liable for any loss or damage to personal property.
